Flagstone Property Group (“Flagstone”) was established in early 2001 as the U.S. property development entity of the Bayraktar Group, a leading European conglomerate active in real estate development, automotive and automotive parts, banking and financial services, aluminum, tourism, and food products. Mehmet Bayraktar serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Flagstone and oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and its subsidiaries.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Bayraktar was the Chairman and CEO of the Bayraktar Group, which was founded in 1958 by Mr. Bayraktar’s grandfather, H. Mehmet Bayraktar, Flagstone’s development approach reflects the principles and visions of Mr. Bayraktar, who pioneered and was directly responsible for the family’s real estate endeavors. Prior to 1980, the Bayraktar Group concentrated on its automotive spare parts distribution business. Foreseeing an increase in consumer demand and tourism in the early 1980s, the group entered the property development business. To date, Mr. Bayraktar has successfully developed approximately four million square feet of commercial property with a current-day value of over $1 billion. In recognition, he has been awarded numerous awards for the quality and design of those developments by internationally recognized real estate organizations.
Flagstone has assembled a first class team of world-renowned architects, development visionaries and urban real estate pioneers to oversee the transformation of the property into Island Gardens. This team is led by CivicArts / Eric R. Kuhne & Associates as the concept architect, Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates as the project architect, and Coastal Construction Group as the construction manager.
